VET IN SCHOOLS – Certificate II in Kitchen Operations – Noosa District SHS @ Noosa District State High School

SIT20416 Certificate II in Kitchen Operations.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in kitchen operations in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops.

If you have a passion for food and a knack for cooking with a bit of creative flair, you can begin working your way to becoming a chef.

Further training pathways from this qualification include SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, SIT31016 Certificate III in Patisserie, SIT30916 Certificate III in Catering Operations.

SITHCCC005   Prepare dishes using basic methods of cookery

SITXWHS001   Participate in safe work practices

ELECTIVE UNITS

SITHCCC006   Produce appetisers and salads

SITHCCC003   Prepare and present sandwiches

SITHFAB005   Prepare and serve espresso coffee

SITHFAB004   Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages

SITHFAB002   Provide responsible service of alcohol [RSA]

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must be in year 10, 11 or 12. Students will be required to provide their USI and complete a language, literacy and numeracy test.

MINIMUM AGE

Minimum age is 15 years. NOTE: If you are under 18 your application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT DELIVERY

Training and Assessment will take place:

Classroom: Training and assessment takes place in a classroom and involves discussions and activities.

Self-directed learning: Further study and assessment activities are done by participants in their own time.

Assessment: The methods in which students are assessed may include written questions, scenarios and observations.

Students are required to complete a compulsory 12 service periods (shifts) of work experience to successfully complete this qualification.
