Successful small business managers need certain skills to run their businesses successfully. They need to be able to communicate effectively, manage people and understand what is best for the business in challenging situations.

By completing this qualification, students will gain the skills and knowledge required to set-up and successfully operate their own business. They will gain practical skills in managing and running a small business and also have the opportunity to learn about business planning, dealing with legal requirements, managing finances and marketing products or services.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, students will be required to provide a USI and complete a language, literacy and numeracy test.

MINIMUM AGE

Minimum age is 15 years. If you are under 18 your application must be signed by a parent or guardian.

BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who take the first line of management in a wide range of organisational and industry contexts. They may have existing qualifications and technical skills in any given vocation or profession, yet require skills or recognition in supervisory functions.

Typically they would report to a manager. The keys to a profitable business are not the strategies or the systems of the organisation. The skill of individual managers, who “practice what they preach” and recognise their contribution to leading and mentoring employees is what truly counts.
